Microchipping

If your pet is lost, they can’t phone home. Get in touch with us if you are looking to have your pet microchipped.

PLEASE NOTE From July 2002, legislation requires that all dogs be identified by a microchip by 12 weeks of age and wear a collar with a name tag which shows the name of the dog and the address and/or telephone number of the owner. Your dog must be lifetime registered with a local council by six (6) months of age. If your dog is currently registered with the council but not microchipped, it will still need to be microchipped regardless of age.

Cats acquired before July 1999 must have a collar and identification tag, which shows the name of the cat and the address and/or telephone number of the owner or be microchipped. They need not be registered with a local council.

Cats acquired after 1st July 1999 must be microchipped by 12 weeks of age for lifetime identification. Your cat must be lifetime registered with a local council by six (6) months of age.

If your dog or cat is not microchipped at present and you would like a microchip placed, please mention it when you make your appointment for your pet’s annual physical examination and vaccination
